Trip checklist

So I have 12 sleeps until north Qld trip and 53 til I go overseas. Realised travel allowance hasn't been done yet for North QLD so I'm hoping that comes through before I go. But will get my itinerary and accomodation details soon so that will be sorted.

As for my big trip I have transferred my money in preparation for paying for my flights and I have booked my first night's accomodation. I am totally excited about that! First trip overseas that I've booked myself - Fiji doesn't count - stupid coup...

So now I just have to actually get a map and work out how I'm going to get from place to place. Totally grateful to J.McF for his efforts in getting together some google maps for me. It's going to make it so much easier. And unlike my sis, I will not be getting into my dormitory at some ridiculous hour of the AM completely smashed after a full day of drinking at the races followed by an international flight of drinking.... I'll be getting in during the day ;)

  1. In my defence, I did not spend the flight drinking as by that stage I was so beyond hungover that I couldn't stomach even watching the nature documentary they had on and I spent the flight staring out at the darkness so I wouldn't vomit, plus the midnight flight to NZ doesn't serve alcohol.

    Lol best quote though:
    Dad: Been drinking Liss?
Me: Oh god can you tell?
Dad: No I can smell you...

On another point: Make sure you pack BEFORE you go out drinking the day of your international flight, make sure when you pack your cd holder that it has more than 2 cd's in it (pre ipod issue), when waiting for your flight don't forget to put your water bottle where you will not forget it so you don't spend the whole flight wishing you had water, upon arriving at destination at 5am find warm place to wait for 6am bus to sleeping accomodation, upon getting onto the bus make sure he knows where you're getting off (NOTE: There may be more than one YHA in a city centre and it is not good to get dropped at the wrong one) and finally when asking if it's far to walk and the bus driver pauses this is an indication that yes you are going to struggle to get there so just flag a cab DO NOT do as I did and think surely it's not that far... get lost, turn in circles, swear your head off, flag a cab, educate the cab driver that the YHA does indeed exist, ponder with said cabbie on where x street is, take off to find you gave up finding the YHA less than 200m from the street it's on, then having to debate with the cabbie whether you need to pay the $1.80 charge.

But my favourite stpry was trying to get OUT of the country....
